Impairments among persons with down syndrome (DS) may hinder them from participating in ball play, an activity that promotes physical well-being, socialization, and personality development. This study described the observed development of ball skills among 30 children with DS. The performances of throwing, catching, and kicking a ball were recorded on video and analyzed using standardized checklists. Results indicated that maturity in kicking had been achieved. Delays in the development of catching and overhand throwing were evident.
