$aThe third edition of this standard reference work has grown to keep pace with our expanding knowledge of air pollution, and will now consist of five volumes. Several chapters which appeared in the second edition have been revised. New chapters concern themselves chiefly with aspects of air quality management such as data handling, emission inventory, mathematical modeling, and control strategy analysis; global pollution and its monitoring; and more detailed attention to pollution from automobiles and incenerators. Vol. 1 covers two major areas: the nature of air pollution and the mechanism of its dispersal by meteorological factors and from stacks. Vol. 2 - details the effects of air pollution on plants, animals, humans, materials and the atmosphere. Vol. 3 - describes the sampling, analysis measurement, and monitoring of air pollution.
