Summary, Etc.Biweekly samples of Crassostrea echinata and Crassostrea lugubrius were collected from October 1978 to October 1980 from Calatagan, Batangas. Microscopic examination of gonadal tissue showed that in both species spawning continues all year, with peaks in the first and fourth quarters of the year. Between major breeding periods, the progress of gonadal development appears to be affected by temperature and salinity of the observed ranges. Peak spawning coincides with the interval between wet and dry seasons when both temperature and salinity are low
