General NoteDiliman, Quezon City: UPCVM, 1977. pp. 4-16. -(PCARR Proj. No. 251; Study 1)
Summary, Etc.Fecal samples taken from 1,230 goats were examined for gastro-intestinal worms. Larval culture revealed that Trichostrongylus sp., Haemonchus sp, and Oesophagostomum spp. were found predominant in goats. Necropsy of 39 goats showed that all of them harbored Oesophagostomum and Trichostronglylus infections ranging from 10 to 110/animal. Haemonchus sp., Strongyloides sp., Trichuris ovis, and tapeworm occured in 38, 15, 18 and 7 goats, respectively. Cooperia, Bunostomum and fluke infections were very rare, each occurring only in one goat. No correlation was observed between eggs per gram (e.p.g.) counts and intensity of host infection. Histological sections revealed erosion of intestinal epithelium and necrosis of villar tips in trichostrongyloses and formation of multiple granulomas with fibrous capsules in oesophagostomiasis
