$aThe study aimed to find out the economic factors that affect the farmer-users, acceptance/nonacceptance of INSAET (Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Technology) developed machines, and to determine the direct effects of the machines on the farm/farm household. The most common constraints cited in the use of the flatbed drier were: high fuel costs, more labor required, small capacity, and slower rate of drying than sun drying. The drier was used only to reduce the moisture content of the grains during the rainy season. Final drying was still sun drying. The copra dryer, though it produced higher quality copra than that of the "tapahan", was not widely used because of the following reasons: small capacity, difficult and time-consuming preparation of charcoal, slow rate of drying, laborious handling of copra. Although the rasper produced a more processed product, the sole end-user of the arrowroot rasper discontinued its use because of high fuel cost. No direct effect on the farm/farm household was determined with the use of the machines.
