Summary, Etc.A low cost timber connectors using plain galvanized iron (GI) sheet as plate and flat-head GI nails as fasteners for jointing timber or coconut wood was developed. The lateral load of nails with the specific gravity of jointed members using timber or coconut wood were highly correlated. The basic load per nail that corresponded to a joint slip was about 0.26 mm. The joint fastener was efficient and readily available. The test results on the prototypes showed that the conventional analytical design procedure agreed closely with the simulated actual conditions
