Title StatementA study on the planting distance of salago (Wikstoemia lanceolata Merr.)
General NoteTacloban, City: EVRFES-FIDA, [1989], 13p
Summary, Etc.Six-month old salago seedlings were used as planting materials to investigate the effects of planting distance/population density on the growth and yield of salago. Salago plants spaced at 25 x 100 cm (40,000 plants/ha) gave the highest dry fiber yield per hectare (5.92 t) 29 months after planting. Planting distance at 75 x 100 cm had the highest fiber yield per plant (202 g), biggest base diameter (4.06 cm) and the tallest plant height at harvest (276.25 cm). Planting salago should not be closer than 25 x 100 cm because total yield diminishes due to higher intraspecific competition
