Title StatementThe effect of different kinds of manuring on the root development of Rauwolfia serpentina (L) Benth x. Kurx
General NoteLegaspi City: BFRC, 1984. 13 p
Summary, Etc.Root weight and root length of R. serpentina were measured to determine the different kinds of manuring (chicken and horse manure and guano) in combination with garden soil on their development in three years of observation. Analysis of treatment means showed that garden soil plus chicken manure gave the highest average root length of 69.43 cm compared to garden soil alone with average root length of 49.77 cm. This was followed by garden soil added with chicken and horse manure (66.43 cm), chicken manure plus guano (61.07 cm) and chicken and horse manure plus guano (58.37 cm). Analysis of variance showed that root development was significantly affected by the various manuring combinations. Comparison of means showed that all treatments significantly increased root length as compared to the control. Green weight also significantly increased in all the treatments compared to the control. Results on the reserpine yield were being analyzed at the National Science and Technology Authority (NSTA) which will be incorporated in the study as soon as they become available
