$aWritten as a handbook for practising teachers working in all sectors of education from primary to tertiary, and for trainers and instructors fo all types, this book offers practical guidance on how to produce teaching materials to support any chosen instructional strategy. Since the book was first published in 1985, the world of educational and taining technology has been changing very rapidly. The authors have undertaken an extensive revision of the original text and have included many new sections providing full information on how to make the most of the range of new technologies now available: video technology, word processing, open learning packages, desktop publishing systems, digital audio equipment and camcorders, as well as the advances made in computer-assisted learning. The first of the book's eight chapters sets the scene by outlining which types of support materials are appropriate for use in different teaching/learning situations, how to select suitable materials and when to decide to produce your own. The remaining seven chapters deal in turn with specific classes of instructional materials - printed and duplicated materilas, non-projected display materials, still projected display materials, audio materials, linked audio and still visual materials, video materials and computer-mediated materials. In each case the authors offer detailed guidance on the materials, how to design them and how to produce the actual materials. Each chapter ends with a short bibliography, and the book also includes a keyword index.
