Title StatementA study of the agroclimatology of the highlands of Eastern Africa by L. H. Brown and J. Cocheme
Physical Descriptionix, 197p. illus
Summary, Etc.(with French, Russian, Spanish) This study is part of a plan to investigate the basic climatic potentials of agriculture in areas where more intensive agriculture and an extension of the arable land show potentialities for an increase in agricultural production. The study area is in eastern Africa, and comprises parts of Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. In particular, the study covered the zones of vegetation in these countries, beginning at 1500 metres at the bushland level, up through the various types of savanna, to the lower limit of the alpine zone which marks the limit of cultivation. The aim of the study is to define the extent to which water requirements of crops are met in various localities of the Area. The maximum amount of water which might be evaporated by crops is determined from physical parameters
