Summary, Etc.Coco coir dust, waste material from the processing of coconut husk into commercial fiber, can be converted into molded products called compots. The compot or coir pot can be used for rearing dendrobiums and other plants and for the propagation of seedlings. Processing coir dust into compots required proper selection and preparation of raw materials particularly the binder. Different binders extracted or prepared from locally available plants were used. Two of these organic binders, banana stalks and water lily, were found effective. Processing of compots involved the preparation of binder and production of vases and/or pots. The machines used for the production of compots were molder, blender or pulp mixer, and dryer. Three sample sizes of compots were produced: small, medium, and large. Actual tests were conducted on the product to determine its strength/durability. The samples were found acceptable
