Title Statement
Spatial arrangement and density of planting traditional white corn in the river flood plains of Cagayan
General Note
Alcala, Cagayan: DA, APC, 1988. 5p
Summary, Etc.
The study was conducted to: a) evaluate the different methods of planting corn in terms of yields and economic return, b) determine the best planting distance and density for traditional corn planting, and c) determine the effects of the different treatments on weed and insect population/infestation. Traditional white corn were planted under three different spatial arrangements and hill spacing and density using split-plot design with three replications. Planting of traditional corn using single row method (60 cm between furrows and 50 cm between hill at two seeds/hill) during the dry season gained the highest net income of P6,449.55/ha. Other options were: double row method of planting at 50 cm between hills at one seed/hill or single row method (75cm between rows) and 50 cm between hills at two seeds/hill
