This study used a modified projective test and an adoption of the value orientation schedule by Kluckholm and Trodtbeck on the cultural values of respondents. It revealed the following: human nature was perceived as inherently good; harmony with nature was generally valued although sometimes there was the desire to overcome natural obstacles; activities which could bring material results were preferred and group decisions were valued over individual ones in undertaking certain projects; readers indicated preference for mastery over, and harmony with nature; future oriented and valued collaterality in relating with townmates; magazine readers were oriented while comics readers tended towards the past. News commentaries and drama listeners viewed human nature as more evil compared to government listeners or listeners to nonspecific programs; drama listeners preferred harmony with nature while government program listeners preferred mastery over nature; and Samahang Nayon members valued activities that brought material results either present- or future-oriented and preferred mastery over nature
